The MPM BioVentures IV family of funds was launched in the second quarter of 2006. The funds hold a portfolio of 18 companies with investments ranging from $5 million to $36 million. About 75% of the funds' investments focus on biotechnology and pharmaceutical products and 25% focus on medical device companies. About 25% of the funds' investments have been made outside the US, including investments in Asia and Europe. The MPM BioVentures IV family of funds serves as the lead investor in a majority of its investments and takes an active role as a board member on its portfolio companies' boards of directors.
