Founded in 1995, the firm is headquartered in Edinburgh and manages assets for institutional clients, separate accounts, pooled investment vehicles and US registered investment companies, including ETFs. Mandates include equity, fixed income and multi-asset strategies. BIL is socially responsible investors which has mandates that explicitly address social, ethical, or environmental considerations.

(SAM-UK), is the wholly-owned Great Britain-based asset management subsidiary of Santander Asset Management Investment Holdings Ltd., ultimately held by Banco Santander SA (NYSE: SAN) in Spain. The firm was founded in 1987 and formerly known as Abbey National Asset Managers Ltd. Headquartered in Glasgow, SAM-UK manages funds on behalf of other Santander group entities as well as retail investors. It also manages a small number of segregated corporate portfolios.
