Ruding is currently the Chairman of Netherlands National Museum Palace Het Loo.
He is also the Director of The Centre for European Policy Studies since 2002.
Additionally, he holds positions as a Member of The Trilateral Commission, UNIAPAC, Pontifical Council for Justice & Peace, International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation, and The Committee For European Monetary Union.
In his former roles, Ruding served as Vice Chairman of Citicorp, Inc. from 1990 to 2003 and Vice Chairman of Citibank NA (New York) from 1992 to 2003.
He was also a Director at Alcan, Inc. from 2004 to 2007 and an Independent Director at Corning, Inc. from 1995 to 2013.
Ruding was a Non-Executive Director at RTL Group SA in 2010-2011.
He held the position of Director at ABN AMRO Bank NV (Old) from 1971 to 1982 and BNG Bank NV from 2004 to 2010.
Ruding was an Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund in 1980 and a Member-Management Board at Holcim Ltd. (Switzerland) from 2004 to 2009.
Ruding obtained a graduate degree from Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1964 and a doctorate degree from the same university in 1969.
