Syed Babar Ali

Syed Babar Ali is the founder of Babar Ali Foundation (founded in 1985) and Ali Institute of Education (founded in 1992).
He is currently the Chairman of Tri-Pack Films Ltd., Non-Executive Chairman of Hoechst Pakistan Ltd., and Chairman of IGI Holdings Ltd.
He also holds the position of Chairman in Coca-Cola Beverages Pakistan Ltd., Gurmani Foundation, Industrial Technical & Educational Institute, Acumen Fund Pakistan, Tetra Pak Pakistan Ltd., South Asia Centre For Policy Studies (Nepal), National Management Foundation, and Syed Maratib Ali Religious & Charitable Trust Society.
Additionally, he is a Non-Executive Director of Nestlé Pakistan Ltd.
(since 2010) and a Director of Bayer Cropscience Pakistan Pvt Ltd., Aitchison College, Lahore School of Economics, Kinnaird College For Women, World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan (President-Emeritus since 1972), The Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust, Shalamar Hospital, and Harvard South Asia Institute.
He has previously held the position of Chairman at Siemens Pakistan Engineering Co. Ltd.
(1991-2012), IGI Investment Bank Ltd., National Fertilizer Corp.
of Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd.
(1974-1977), and Unilever Pakistan Ltd.
(1952-2008).
He was also the Managing Director of Packages Ltd.
(1955-1974) and Vice President-Emeritus of WWF International (1996-1999).
Mr. Ali is a Trustee of Lahore University of Management Sciences.
He completed his undergraduate degree from the University of the Punjab in 1945.
