Matthew Insley Growney

Prior to co-founding Motorola Ventures, Mr. Growney successfully completed three diverse positions as a Commodities Buyer with Motorolas Land Mobile Product Sector, Corporate Development Analyst at Nippon Motorola Limited in Tokyo, Japan, and as the Business Analyst for Motorolas Corporate Strategy- Business Development office.
His primary responsibilities included management of unsolicited deal flow, investment tracking, and merger and acquisition analysis.
Transactions Mr. Growney participated in include the acquisitions of Indala (Motorolas current Bistatix technology), Pro-log Computer (part of Motorolas Computer Group), and the equity investment in Starfish (of Motorolas PCS Smart & Connected Group).
In 1999, he also conducted cyber-law, e-commerce, and domain name legal review on behalf of HSD Ernst & Young- France in Paris, France.
Mr. Growney has studied C Programming at Harvard University and International Civil Law at the University of San Jose in Costa Rica.
He graduated from Michigan State University and possesses a Juris Doctor degree from the New England School of Law in Boston.
Mr. Growney is a Director on the boards of Xanboo, Airclic, and Shanghai NewMargin Ventures.
He sits on the Board of Advisors for the Global Venture Network in New York City and Shanghai.
He is also President for the Corporate Venturing Consortium- M.I.T.
Entrepreneurship Development Program.
Outside of Motorola, he is a Board Director for TodoBebe, a Hispanic media company serving new and future parents throughout Latin America and the U.S., and serves as a Board Advisor to Natl.
Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, New England.
In November 2005, Mr. Growney was named one of Boston's "40 Under 40" by the Boston Business Journal for his professional achievement and community contributions in New England.
He is also on the Advisory Board of Sigma Capital Partners.
