Mr. Masato Degawa is President at BlackRock Japan Co. Ltd.
Prior to BlackRock, Mr. Degawa was with Societe Generale Japan since 2002 as the Chief Investment Officer for Active strategies.
In order to strengthen SGAM Japan’s Investment Management Division, he reorganized the teams according to investment strategy, aiming to deliver high quality products for our clients.
Under his strong leadership, SGAM Japan has successfully established its position as one of the most important investment centers of SGAM Group.
He was appointed Representative Director and Executive Vice President in June 2006.
Prior to joining SGAM Japan, he was a senior portfolio manager specializing in Japanese Equity including market neutral strategy at JP Morgan Investment Management in London for 9 years.
He started his career in finance at Morgan Stanley in 1985 in Tokyo and was a senior research analyst covering Utilities and Capital Goods sectors until 1993.

from Oxford University.
