Jaime Basterra Smith

Jaime Basterra Smith has been Chief Financial Officer of Telefónica de Espana since December 2002.
He served as Managing Director of O2 Germany GMBH & CO.
OHG until May 13, 2009.
Mr. Smith was Controller of Telefónica de Espana from October 2000 to December 2002.
He joined Telefónica Group in 1999 as Director of Financial Planning for Telefónica Internacional and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in November the same year.
Prior to joining Telefónica, he was Director of Global Equities in its fund management division of Banesto (BSCH Group).
Mr. Smith is a Director of Telefónica I+D, Telyco, TTP and Telfisa.
He received a Bachelor's degree from the Universidad Comercial Deusto and a Master's degree from Exeter University.
