Francis Kao

Francis Kao is Partner of Lightspeed China Partners.
He joined the team in 2020 and is based in Shanghai office.
He has 8 years of venture capital experience and 10 years of industry experience.
He focuses on investment opportunities in multiple sectors including enterprise services, medical technology and digitalization of traditional industry.
His key investments include Bluepha, Convertlab, Linkedcare, METiS, Stepone, Textiles Future, Stonewise, Bestsign, Boohee Health, BFxiaoke, Gago Bigdata, SequoiaDB, Tungee, Udesk, etc.
Francis previously worked as Investment Director at Alibaba Group.
While working with Alibaba, Francis led the group’s efforts in innovative technology investment and e-commerce business strategy investments.
Prior to Alibaba, he was Investment VP of DCM Venture Partners.
Prior to DCM, he worked with Amazon and Asus where he held positions in sales, marketing, and product management in the United States, India and Greater China.
Francis was honored as the “40 under 40 Top Investor” by Cyzone in 2017 and 2020.
In 2021, he was honored as the “F40 Chinese Young Investor” by the PE Daily.
Francis holds a B.A. in International Business Management from National Taiwan University and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University.
