The Harlem School of the Arts, the Herb Alpert Center, is a cultural institution that offers instruction in music, dance, theater, musical theater, and media & design to children ages 2-18. The school is based in New York, NY and its facilities, including its 120-seat HSA Theater, are available for rental for corporate, nonprofit, and private events as well as for commercial and film shoots. The school has served more than 55,000 students over the last 58 years. HSA Prep is a highly selective, pre-professional scholarship program providing students ages 12–18 with advanced level arts training in music, dance, theater, and the visual arts. Founded in 1964 by internationally-acclaimed African-American soprano Dorothy Maynor, HSA empowers youth to reach their full potential through interdisciplinary arts training that celebrates the rich complexity of their community.
