In developing those allocations, the firm considers asset class risk and return results that are based on estimated forward-looking return and risk assumptions, as measured by standard deviation, which are based on UBS proprietary research. The development process includes a review of a variety of factors, including the return, risk, correlations and historical performance of various asset classes, inflation and risk premium.

Functions as a College/University

BTG seeks to generate absolute returns for its clients by investing in a wide range of investment vehicles, including both traditional and alternative investment products. The firm generally focuses on an absolute return approach rather than an index approach and uses active portfolio management to achieve results. They employ a dual top-down and bottom-up approach to identify investment opportunities. Investment decisions are based on both fundamental micro, as well as, macro analysis that include a review of the regional and global economic situations, asset flows and other macro indicators. In addition to their focus on emerging markets, BTG also considers global macroeconomic themes.
