John Choi

Dr. John Choi, MD PhD, is Founder & Managing Director at Pytho Partners.
Dr. Choi co-founded Pytho Partners in 2006.
Prior to this, he was a Principal at Venrock Associates, one of the most distinguished venture capital firms in the country.
During his tenure there, he focused on Venrock's biotechnology and medical device franchises, working actively with portfolio companies such as Altea Therapeutics, Coley Pharmaceuticals, Sirna Therapeutics, Celladon Corporation, and Princeton Lightwave.
Dr. Choi was also previously involved with investments in NanoGram Devices (acquired by Wilson Greatbatch), Targeted Genetics Corporation, and led the investment in Skinetics Biosciences (acquired by Sirna Therapeutics).
Prior to Venrock, Dr. Choi worked at the San Francisco offices of TVM, a European venture capital firm, evaluating life science investment opportunities.
Before this, he served as a Resident in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine.
He has a M.D.
from Cornell University Medical College, a Ph.D.
in Biophysics from Harvard University, and graduated summa cum laude with a B.S.
in Applied Math-Physics from Yale College.
