One Stone, Inc. is a student-driven nonprofit educational organization and independent high school that offers an alternative to traditional education, emphasizing individualized, competency-based, project- and design thinking–centered learning. The non-profit company is based in Boise, ID. The school operates a lab school environment where students participate in personalized experiences such as internships, community projects, and student-run ventures, including a service program, a creative business studio, and a business incubator. Its educational model uses a growth framework and dynamic transcript to assess academic and social-emotional development, and a tuition program to ensure broad access. The organization’s signature program guides students through cycles of exploration and self-actualization, culminating in reflective presentations. One Stone fosters a diverse, inclusive community and has a student-centered governance model, with students comprising the majority of the board and co-designing the learning experience.
