He has over 35 years of investment experience.
He has over three decades of experience working in finance, wealth management advisory, private equity, venture capital and real estate.
He is a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Margaret’s Episcopal School and is the Chairman Emeritus of the Ocean Institute Board in Dana Point, CA.
He also served on the Board of Directors of South Coast Repertory Theatre and the New Majority.
Mr. Copps was a Managing Director in the Private Banking and Investment Group at Merrill Lynch for 14 years.
Prior to Merrill Lynch, he was a Founding Partner of the Southern California office of Hambrecht and Quist, Senior Vice President at JP Morgan and Senior Vice President at Kidder Peabody.
He began his career in the Midwest as a real estate investor and syndicator, focusing on multi-family apartments and office buildings.
He holds the Certified Financial Planner designation, awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. and is a Certified Investment Management Consultant professional.
He received his undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University.
