Acomo appoints Kathy Fortmann as group CEO

ROTTERDAM 28 JULY 2021

Acomo (Amsterdam Commodities N.V.), the Euronext Amsterdam-listed natural food ingredients company in spices and nuts, edible seeds, tea, food ingredients and organic ingredients, will appoint Kathy L. Fortmann (54, photo) as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) per 15 September 2021. As CEO of Acomo, she will report to the Acomo Board of Directors and will be responsible for Acomo's executive management and leading the group which recently doubled in turnover through the successful acquisitionof Tradin Organic at the end of 2020. She will work closely with Allard Goldschmeding, group CFO.

Acomo will soon call an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to ask shareholders to approve the appointment of Kathy L. Fortmann.

Kathy L. Fortmann, who was born in the US and has lived in the Netherlands since 2014, started her career with sixteen years at E. I. Dupont de Nemours. She then worked at global food and commodity trading company Cargill for 12 years, and between 2017 and 2020, Fortmann was President of Friesland Campina Ingredients and a member of its Executive Leadership team. She is currently formally employed and in office as President of IFF's Nourish, a six-billion dollar flavor and food ingredients business. Fortmann graduated in chemical engineering from the University of Tulsa (BSc) and received her Executive MBA from Washington University.

The recent expansion of the Acomo group activities requires a broadening of the senior executive management. In her new role, Kathy Fortmann's focus will be on further group integration and the realization of economies of scale and synergies in the various activities of the Acomo subsidiaries. This will allow Allard Goldschmeding, who joined Acomo as CFO in 2015 and played a very important role in the recent acquisition of Tradin Organic, to focus more on his financial and business development roles as CFO.

Acomo has been intent on expanding its Executive Board for some time. Bernard Stuivinga, non-executive director and chairman of the Board said: "With the acquisition of Tradin Organic late last year, our business significantly increased in size. With Kathy's arrival, we'll be able to share the Board's responsibilities in a more balanced way. We are delighted that we've managed to get someone of her caliber and experience on board and we are confident that together, she and Allard Goldschmeding will help the group achieve further growth. Kathy has extensive knowledge of (product) marketing, sales of food ingredients, and commodities trading. She also has a wealth of experience as a board member and executive director. That is a unique combination."

Acomo benoemt Kathy Fortmann als groeps-CEO

Acomo (Amsterdam Commodities N.V.), het aan de Euronext Amsterdam genoteerde bedrijf in natuurlijke voedingsingrediënten zoals specerijen, noten, eetbare zaden, thee, voedingsingrediënten en biologische ingrediënten, zal Kathy L. Fortmann (54, foto) voordragen als Chief Executive Office (CEO) met ingang van 15 september 2021. Als CEO van Acomo zal zij rapporteren aan de Board en eindverantwoordelijk zijn voor de dagelijks gang van zaken en nauw gaan samenwerken met Allard Goldschmeding (Group CFO) en het executive management team van de groep die eind 2020 in omzet bijna verdubbelde na de succesvolle overnamevan Tradin Organic.

Binnenkort zal een buitengewone algemene vergadering van aandeelhouders (BAvA) worden uitgeschreven waarin de aandeelhouders gevraag zal worden in te stemmen met de benoeming van Kathy L. Fortmann.

Kathy L. Fortmann, van geboorte Amerikaanse en sinds 2014 woonachtig in Nederland, werkte aan het begin van haar carrière meer dan zestien jaar voor E. I. Dupont de Nemours, vervolgens ruim 12 jaar voor wereldwijd voedsel- en grondstoffenhandelaar Cargill en van 2017-2020 was zij President van Friesland Campina Ingredients en lid van het Executive Leadership team. Formeel is zij op dit moment nog in dienst en in functie als President van IFF's Nourish, een bedrijf met een omzet van $ 6 miljard en actief in smaakstoffen en voedingsingrediënten. Fortmann studeerde als chemisch ingenieur af aan de University of Tulsa (BSc) en haalde een Executive MBA aan Washington University.

De recente expansie van de Acomo groep vereist een verbreding van het senior executive management. In haar nieuwe rol zal Kathy Fortmann zal zich vooral gaan richten op de verdere groepsintegratie en realisatie van schaal- en synergievoordelen binnen de verschillende activiteiten van de Acomo dochterbedrijven. Voor Allard Goldschmeding, die in 2015 aantrad als CFO van de groep en een zeer belangrijke rol speelde bij de recente overname van Tradin Organic, creëert dit meer ruimte om zich te richten op zijn rol als CFO en de actieve begeleiding van business development activiteiten.

Acomo was al langer op zoek naar uitbreiding van de Executive Board. Bernard Stuivinga, non-executive director en voorzitter van de Board zegt in een toelichting: "Na de overname van Tradin Organic eind vorig jaar is onze onderneming in omvang aanzienlijk toegenomen. Met de komst van Kathy kunnen we de bestuurstaken nu op evenwichtige wijze gaan verdelen.
