Dr. Moon J.
Kim is Venture Partner at Harbor Pacific Capital LLC since 2010.
He serves as a Venture Partner and focuses on hardware & infrastructure investments in the United States and Korea.
He spends a portion of his time with the firm’s portfolio companies, including Taejin Infotech.
He is currently the CEO of Taejin Infotech’s US operations.
Prior to joining Harbor Pacific in 2010, Dr. Kim served as CEO Technology Advisor for Samsung Electronics where he worked on special projects in intellectual property, business development and new consumer video products.
Until March 2009, Dr. Kim was a Chief Architect and Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM Corp.
During his 28 years with IBM, he has managed and worked on all aspects of technology and IT systems development and commercialization, including multi-core processor and systems, highly parallel computing systems, hybrid systems, virtual Web systems, home media systems (VoIP, VoD, IPTV, home network), Grid and Cloud infrastructures, advanced search & delivery Web systems, broadband interactive end-to-end systems, and IBM server families including mainframe and hybrid systems.
Dr. Kim is an expert on intellectual property generation and patent assessment and held the prestigious title of IBM Master Inventor for over 15 years.
While at IBM, he led IBM’s Technology Innovation Team, Invention Development Team and ThinkTanks and led workshops and lectures on emerging technology and business development globally.
He has produced a vast amount of intellectual property, over 130 inventions that have generated large IP revenue for a variety of companies.
He has also authored several books and published numerous technical papers on technology.
Currently, he holds 46 US, 11 EU, 9 Chinese and 7 Korean patents.
Dr. Kim is an affiliate professor at Ajou University Graduate School in South Korea and is an expert on the technology industry in Asia.
