The firm was founded in London in 1971 and was acquired by Swiss Re in 1999. In 2006 a new company formed by J.C. Flowers & Co. LLC and FPK employees acquired FPK from Swiss Re. An affiliate of J.C. Flowers & Co. LLC is the majority shareholder and FPK management and employees are significant shareholders with Swiss Re holding a minority interest in the company. The firm's research products are distributed through an international team of sales persons and sales traders serving major institutional investors worldwide. Their clients include pension funds, mutual and unit trust managers, insurers, bank investment departments, hedge funds and private client asset managers

The firm was founded in 1986 and is a subsidiary of Morgan Stanley Investments (UK), ultimately held by Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) in the US.
