Dr. Morrison co-founded Newbury in January of 1992 and has been involved in the venture capital industry for over 20 years.
At Newbury he was an early investor and board member at Netro (now SR Telecom), Fundtech, Jacada, ViryaNet, Summit Design (now Mentor Graphics), Divio (now ESS Technology), Ultracom (now Terayon), and Scorpio Communications (now 3Com).
Prior to Newbury he was the President of Berkeley International Capital, where he originated and negotiated equity investments in over 20 companies, including Altera Corporation, Cirrus Logic, Quickturn Design Systems, Solomon Design (which merged to form Cadence), and Broderbund Software.
He held several executive positions at Wells Fargo Bank prior to joining Berkeley, including Vice President and Manager of Global Foreign Exchange Trading.
Before joining Wells Fargo, he worked in the headquarters operations research department at AT&T (now Lucent Technologies).
With experience at investing in all development stages, his investment focus at Newbury is in early stage communications and information technologies.
He currently holds board positions at MystiCom, OnWafer, Silverback Systems, Virtio, Zenasis Technologies and is a board observer at Pixim.
He was a Senior Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research and is an active speaker and advisor of the Berkeley Entrepreneurs Forum at University of California's Haas School of Business.
Dr. Morrison holds B.I.E.
and MS degrees from Ohio State University and a PhD from the University of California at Berkeley.
