James G. Kirschner

Mr. James G.
Kirschner is Chief Strategy Officer at The YMCA Retirement Fund.
He is a YMCA Organizational Leader, began his YMCA career in New York City in 1984 and held senior management roles at both the branch and association level of the YMCA of Greater New York.
He works with the Fund’s Trustees and Senior Management to formulate and track long-term strategies and to ensure that current objectives are in support of the Fund's Mission, Vision, Values and Guiding Principles.
He is responsible for tracking and analyzing constituent statistics and survey results within an overall focus on providing data for decision-making and he provides staff support to the Fund's Trustees in the areas of governance and board development.
Prior to joining the Fund in 2003, Mr. Kirschner was the principal in his own consulting practice, focusing on strategic management and leadership issues.
He has been an adjunct professor at the graduate level at Columbia University, Adelphi University, and Springfield College.
Mr. Kirschner earned a BA in economics at Trinity College and an MBA at Columbia Business School.
He is a Certified Retirement Counselor.
He earned the designation of Governance Fellow from the National Association of Corporate Directors.
