Before joining Blackstone in 2005, Mr. Lee was Vice President and Director of Investments - Distressed Securities for Harbert Management Corporation (now HMC Investors LLC), a $3 billion hedge fund, where he focused on distressed debt of companies in or near bankruptcy.
His responsibilities included investment research and management, and fund administration.
Prior to Harbert, Mr. Lee was a Portfolio Manager/Senior Analyst for Talon Capital, a $200 million proprietary hedge fund of JP Morgan Chase.
He began his career as a Project Manager and Engineer for BP Amoco.
Mr. Lee received an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a BS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
He has served on several creditor committees and actively participated in several financial restructurings, including General Chemical and Mission Resources.
