The firm was founded in 1999 and formerly known as Pales Verm?gensverwaltungsgesellschaft mbH. They are a subsidiary of Muenchener Rueckversicherungs-Gesellschaft AG (ETR: MUV2). Munich-MEAG provides investment management and consulting services to unaffiliated professional investors, manages special investment funds (Spezialfonds) for institutional investors and mutual investment funds (Publikumsfonds) for private investors.

MEAG MUNICH ERGO Kapitalanlagegesellschaft mbH (MEAG-K) is the wholly-owned asset management subsidiary of MEAG MUNICH ERGO AssetManagement GmbH, itself a subsidiary of Münchener Rückversicherungs AG (FR: MUV2) in Germany. Established in 1999, the firm is based in Munich and manages assets, investing in securities, real estate and funds for a range of clients including insurance companies, pension funds and pension schemes, church organizations, foundations, local authorities, industrial companies from outside their company group and private investors.
