Gaurav Thakur

Dr. Gaurav Thakur is Associate of Research at INTECH Investment Management LLC.
He joined INTECH in August 2015 and has a wide-ranging and interdisciplinary background in mathematics and several scientific fields.
His graduate research was on harmonic analysis and statistical signal processing, developing theory and algorithms for recovering and decomposing signals measured from non-uniform samples.
He has since conducted research in many diverse areas, including sensor fusion, machine learning, financial econometrics, wireless communications and climate science.
He works with INTECH's other mathematicians and physicists on portfolio construction and trading.
Dr. Thakur was previously employed as Senior Data Scientist by Digital Signal Corp.
and Senior Engineer by The MITRE Corp.
He was a data scientist at a start-up company working on statistical fraud detection and face recognition, and previously a researcher at a U.S.
government laboratory developing sensor and radar processing algorithms.
Dr. Thakur earned his Ph.D.
and M.A.
in Applied Mathematics from Princeton University, and his B.S.
in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park.
