Fassil Michael

Mr. Fassil Michael is a Head of Thought Leadership at Institutional Shareholder Services, Inc. He brings an invaluable breadth of governance, client and company knowledge to the role, with over twenty years of corporate governance and ESG experience at ISS.
In this role he will support all of the businesses in ISS Governance Solutions, with an emphasis on Governance Research & Voting.
Mr. Michael will direct and coordinate thought leadership in support of maintaining ISS’ standing as the global leader in providing the highest quality governance research and related services, business growth, marketing opportunities and promotion of our products and expertise, and will play a key role in representing ISS with clients and in the market.
Prior to his current role, he was ISS’ Global Head of Custom Research.
With more than 20 years experience, he was variously responsible for managing the Global Custom Research, US Custom Research and Social Advisory Services teams, oversaw the implementation of 400+ proxy-voting policies for institutional clients worldwide, and provided corporate governance policy consulting and development services to many institutional investor clients.
He is a graduate of Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT where he earned a B.A.
in International Politics and Economics (IP&E), with a focus on economics.
