The company operates its business into six segments: Copper, Zinc India, Zinc International, Aluminum, Power and Other. The Copper segment engages in the custom smelting including copper smelting, refinery, phosphoric acid plant, sulphuric acid plant, copper rod plant, and two captive power plants and also includes a precious metal refinery at Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates. The Zinc India segment is owned and operated by Hindustan Zinc Ltd. which operations include four lead-zinc mines, four hydrometallurgical zinc smelters, one lead smelter, one lead-zinc smelter, five sulphuric acid plants, a silver refinery and five captive power plants in Rajasthan; one hydrometallurgical zinc smelter and a sulphuric acid plant in Andhra Pradesh; and a zinc ingot melting and casting plant at Haridwar in Uttarakhand. The Zinc International segment owns and operates the Skorpion mine and refinery in Namibia. The Aluminum segment owns and operated by Bharat Aluminium Co., Ltd. which operations include two bauxite mines, one alumina refinery, one aluminum smelter and two captive power plants. The Power segment engages in the generation of commercial power. The Other segment includes Paper, infrastructure, investments in associate and other activities.
