Dr. Jan Marcus is a Research Associate at The German Institute for Economic Research.
He examines empirical questions in the areas of health and education economics, with a particular focus on the evaluation of specific policies (e.g., G8 schooling reform, a late-night ban on alcohol sales).
His research projects combine relevant research questions with the newest methods from statistics and econometrics to allow for credible identification of causal effects.
He joined DIW Berlin in September 2009 as a Ph.D.
student.
Since 2013 he is a fellow of the College for Interdisciplinary Educational Research and since October 2015, he holds an assistant professorship at the University of Hamburg.
He studied Political and Administrative Science (Bachelor) as well as Economics (Master) in Konstanz and Istanbul.
