In 2008, the firm formed an Asian joint venture with GaveKal Holdings to promote GaveKal's long-only expertise and develop a stable of hedge funds, including the Marshall Wace GaveKal Asian Opportunities fund and two Japanese hedge funds. In 2013, they dissolved the joint venture and Marshall Wace absorbed the long/short funds.
