At Merrill Lynch, he served as Chief Global Emerging Markets Currency Strategist, and Senior Latin America Equity Strategist.
Prior to 1994, he was a Research Economist at the IMF where he was the lead Economist responsible for overseeing the economic surveillance of the Fund’s assistance programs to China and the Russian Federation.
Prior to joining the IMF in 1992, he served as Economics professor at Georgetown University, Lecturer at the University of Chicago and Visiting Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics.
He received a Ph.D.
in Economics from the University of Chicago in 1988 and holds an honors BSE Degree in Finance and Economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
