Valter Viola

Mr. Viola joined the CPP Investment Board in August 2000.
His responsibilities include research to support the development of investment policies and value-added strategies including risk management.
Prior to joining the CPP Investment Board, Mr. Viola spent seven years at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board.
As a director in the research and economics group, he conducted research to support the development of investment policies.
He was a member of the investment planning committee and managed a tactical asset allocation portfolio and real return bond portfolio.
Before joining Teachers’, he taught finance and accounting at York University and Wilfrid Laurier University.
He is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder.
He received an MBA from the University of Western Ontario and a B.Comm.
from the University of Toronto.
