Mehboob Somani

Meb Somani joined Actis in 2006 as Head of Oil & Gas after a 25 year career in the oil industry.
He was previously Managing Director at the M&A advisory boutique Harrison Lovegrove & Co (now part of Standard Chartered Bank), where he advised clients including major international and national oil companies on acquisitions & divestments valued at several billion dollars in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Prior to that, he spent 20 years with Shell and Texaco, starting as a petroleum engineer on North Sea oil rigs before moving to Asia, Middle East and Europe in senior technical, operational, oilfield management, corporate planning and business development roles, and a spell as head of economic evaluaion for global gas and power.
Meb Somani has a first class honours degree in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College London and an MBA from Henley Management College.
