Ms. Marlies Van Boven is lead manager of the Baring Emerging Markets Absolute Return Fund, one of the first long/short emerging market quantitative funds to be made available to investors.
She is also a member of the Management Committee of the Mass Mutual Bluechip Fund, a multi-strategy product run in cooperation between Barings and Babson.
Prior to this assignment, Marlies Van Boven was Head of Quant Research, responsible for providing quantitative research to Barings’ investment teams.
She joined Baring Asset Management in 2003 from Newton Investment Management where she was a Quantitative Strategist, responsible for initiating the development of quantitative equity research.
During her tenure at Newton she chaired the Quant Focus Group and was a member of the Tactical Sector Overview Committee.
Marlies has an M.A.
in Accounting and Finance from Institute Coremans (Belgium) and holds a Ph.D.
in Finance from Warwick Business School.
