Fabian de Beer

Mr. Fabian de Beer is a Chief Risk Officer at Mergence Investment Managers (Pty) Ltd.
He is on the Board of Directors at Mergence Unlisted Investment Managers (Namibia) Pty Ltd.
He joined Mergence Investment Managers in 2006.
He e has led Mergence as Investment Strategist, Chief Investment Officer, and, since 2015, Director: Investments with oversight over both Public and Private Market Investments.
In November 2019, he was appointed Deputy Managing Director and in September 2021 his role was specialized into Chief Risk Officer – focusing on investments – as part of high-level changes to the Mergence executive leadership team to meet the company’s strong growth.
His career in financial services and investments spans over 34 years.
Mr. de Beer held several senior and executive management positions namely: Head of the Group Asset/Liability Management function at Standard Bank/SCMB (Treasury); senior manager of ALM/risk assessment at Eskom Treasury; senior positions at the Eskom Pension & Provident Fund which included heading Investment Multi-Management and playing a major role in investment and portfolio strategy as well as asset allocation.
Furthermore, he was a member of the EPPF Exco.
He later joined Brait SA as Executive Director serving as the lead investment manager for its Fund of Hedge Funds and serving on its Board.
He has a BCom (majoring in Accounting and Economics) and a post graduate diploma (H.Dip.Ed.) from the University of the Western Cape.
