Exxon Mobil Corporation is een aardolieconcern georganiseerd rond 3 activiteitensectoren:

- raffinage en distributie (76,9% van de omzet): 5,4 miljoen geproduceerde aardolievaten (dieselolie, benzine, stookolie, smeermiddelen, motorolie, enz.) verkocht per dag in 2024;

- petrochemie (12,1%): met name olie, aromaten, alcohol, ethyleen, elastomeren, propyleen en polymeren (19,3 Mt verkocht in 2024) bestemd voor de farmaceutische, cosmetica-, textiel- en elektriciteitsindustrie, enz.;

- exploratie en productie van koolwaterstoffen (10,9%; n° 1 wereldwijd): 2,9 miljoen vaten aardolie geproduceerd per dag en 228,7 miljoen m3 aardgas geproduceerd per dag.

De geografische verdeling van de omzet is als volgt: Verenigde Staten (40,1%), Canada (8,8%), Verenigd Koninkrijk (6,1%), Singapore (4,6%) Frankrijk (4%) en overige (36,4%).
