Mr. Shawn P.
O'Leary is a Senior Vice President & Portfolio Manager at First Trust Advisors LP.
He has over 20 years of credit research and portfolio management experience in municipal securities.
Mr. O'Leary was previously a portfolio manager for Nuveen’s municipal fixed income team, focusing primarily on both intermediate- and limited-term national accounts, laddered accounts and environmental, social and governance (ESG) portfolios.
Prior to his time as a portfolio manager, he was a research analyst for Nuveen, where he covered a wide array of municipal sectors.
During his time at Nuveen, he was frequently quoted or appeared in the financial media including The Wall Street Journal, The Bond Buyer, Bloomberg TV and CNBC.
Prior to joining Nuveen, Mr. O'Leary was a credit analyst for Moody’s Investors Service working first on the State & Local Government team covering municipal issuers throughout the Midwest and then later the U.S.
Public Infrastructure team where he covered issuers such as airports, public power, revolving funds, publicly financed hotels and assembly facilities, stadiums, mass transit systems and toll roads He graduated with a B.S.
from Bates College and an M.P.P., with honors, in Public Finance from the University of Chicago’s Irving B. Harris School of Public Policy Studies.
