The Conference of Western Attorneys General (CWAG) is a bipartisan nonprofit organization formed by western states and territories to support state attorneys general in their roles as chief legal and law enforcement officers. The private company is based in Elk Grove, CA. CWAG facilitates collaboration, knowledge sharing, and coordinated legal actions among its members through meetings, conferences, and specialized committees such as the Western Attorneys General Litigation Action Committee, which focuses on environment, natural resources, public lands, and Indian law. CWAG publishes resources like the American Indian Law Deskbook and sponsors legal education to promote state-tribal cooperation. In partnership with the Attorney General Alliance (AGA), CWAG addresses emerging legal challenges including cannabis regulation, sports betting, cybercrime, human trafficking, and mental health, providing forums, training, newsletters, and resources to enhance the effectiveness of attorneys general offices. Key initiatives include a mental health initiative supporting first responders and veterans, an artificial intelligence task force, and efforts combating illegal sports betting.
