Shamim Hossain joined City Insurance PLC as General Manager in 2008 and has since become one of the driving forces behind the company’s success.
A dynamic and visionary sales leader, he brings extensive experience across both B2B and B2C markets, marked by creativity, strategic foresight, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Hossain has consistently delivered strong business growth in highly competitive, target-driven environments.
His leadership journey at City Insurance spans multiple key roles—culminating in his appointment as Acting Managing Director & CEO in 2018 and his confirmation as Managing Director & CEO in 2019.
Under his guidance, the company has strengthened its core operations, enhanced service excellence, and expanded its market footprint across Bangladesh.
With nearly 22 years of diverse experience in the insurance industry, Mr. Hossain combines deep management insight with an innovative approach to organizational development.
His expertise lies in building high-performance teams, driving strategic initiatives, and fostering sustainable growth.
Mr. Hossain holds a Master of Science in Chemistry from the National University, along with a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering and an Oracle Certification.
Before joining the insurance sector, he began his career in education and information technology, gaining valuable experience as a teacher and programmer.
A strong advocate of lifelong learning, he has participated in numerous training programs, seminars, and international symposiums on insurance and business leadership.
Beyond his professional life, Mr. Hossain is deeply committed to community service.
He has served as President of the Rotary Club of Shahbag (2018–2019), Assistant Governor (2021–2022), and Deputy Governor (2023–2024) of Rotary District 3281, Bangladesh, contributing meaningfully to social development and humanitarian causes.
