John Leroy Townsend

John Leroy Townsend is currently the Chairman of the Townsend Family Foundation Ltd., Chairman of the Protestant Episcopal High School, Director of The University of North Carolina Investment Fund, Inc., Director of the Institute For Sports Medicine Research, Member of the RiverStone Group, Inc., Trustee of the Grand Teton National Park Foundation and the US Ski & Snowboard Team Foundation, and Member-Investment Committee of the Smith Richardson Foundation, Inc. He is also a Trustee of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Previously, he was the Co-Chairman of Greenwich Hospital, Independent Director of International Paper Co., Director of Belk, Inc., Managing Director of Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC, Director of Castle Point Capital Management LLC, and Chief Operating Officer & Managing Partner of Tiger Management LLC.
He was also a Senior Advisor of Stone Point Capital LLC and a Trustee of Yale New Haven Health Services Corp.Mr. Townsend received his undergraduate degree from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
