Mr. Chris Roper is a Managing Director at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
He supports the Chief Investment Officer in his accountabilities for the Fund’s strategic and tactical portfolio design, guidance and capital allocations to investment strategies, and management of exposures, leverage and liquidity of the Fund.
Prior to this, he oversaw the Financing, Collateral & Trading and Active Macro teams within the Capital Markets and Factor Investing Department focused on fund financing, balance-sheet management and trading activities and discretionary investment programs.
He has previously been responsible for several groups, including Short Horizon Alpha, Cash and Liquidity, and initially focused on active-management programs.
Prior to joining CPP Investments in 2008, he was Managing Director in Structured Finance at BMO Capital Markets, Co-Head Structured Finance at Scotia Capital and traded a wide range of derivatives across multiple products at Citibank.
He received his undergraduate degree from McMaster University and an MBA from Queen's University.
