The firm seeks to achieve superior long-term performance by acquiring equity securities of financially strong, well-managed companies run by capable management teams, at market prices significantly below their assessment of their business value. It sells stocks when they approach their appraisal. They consider companies of all sizes, although most of their assets are invested in mid-size and larger companies. Southeastern is an activist firm and is included in the SharkWatch50 as one of the 50 most prominent and impactful activist investors.

Saturna Capital is primarily a long-term investor that seeks to preserve and grow clients’ capital over time. They believe that for the long-term investor, equity securities are the best investment option, but they also recognize that bonds or cash equivalents may be better suited in certain situations. Therefore, the firm also offers advice on most securities commonly held in US investment accounts: domestic and foreign common and preferred stocks; government, corporate and municipal bonds; mutual funds; convertible securities; warrants; exchange-traded option contracts; and partnership interests.
