Barry Smith

Mr. Barry Smith is an Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer at State Street Global Advisors Trust Co. He is also an Executive Vice President and a member of the firm's Executive Management Group.
Mr. Smith is responsible for leading the strategic direction and growth of our institutional business, driving globally consistent approaches to how we sell to and service institutional clients.
In addition to developing GCCG's sales and service operating platform and infrastructure, he leads the State Street Global Advisors Global Defined Contribution and Global Cash businesses.
He also serves as President of SSGA Trust Company and SSGA Canada, Ltd. Prior to his role as COO for Global Client Coverage Group, he was Head of Americas for GIG, overseeing sales and relationship management in the US, Canada, and Latin America.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Smith previously worked at BlackRock as Managing Director and Head of the Private Label Cash Management business.
He earned a BA in financial economics from Saint Anselm College, where he has also served as Treasurer of the Board of Trustees.
