Quilter Cheviot is an active investor which believes that the best returns come from a flexible approach, so they do not restrict themselves to one investment style. The firm has a house view that runs throughout the business, to which their investment managers align themselves. They create portfolios using a multi-asset approach to investing, which provides them with the flexibility to meet individual needs over the long-term. Their asset allocation process is forward looking, dynamic and not based solely on backward-looking statistics.

RSIM is an active manager which is organized into three distinct groups. The Asset Allocation Group meets monthly to determine overall investment strategy and asset allocation. The Stock Sector Group determines stock and sector selections, including UK equities. The Collective Investment Committee reviews the range of alternative investments available and provides information and guidance to the investment managers. Portfolio managers and analysts share information. The firm performs in-house research, supplemented by third party research of quoted companies in order to construct lists of equities from which clients' portfolios are constructed. RSIM fund managers conduct research and can not make or change recommendations without the approval of the Stock/Sector Group, comprised of senior directors in fund management teams. Recommendations are communicated to investment managers who make investment decisions. Research into externally-managed fund investments, unit trusts and other collective vehicles is also carried out by specialists who report to the Asset Allocation Group or the Alternative Investment Group.
