Interros Holding Co. CJSC (IH) is the industrial holding and investment subsidiary of Vladimir Potanin's Cyprus-based Interros International Investments Ltd. The group's companies operate as independent business entities throughout Russia, Europe, Asia and North America. Based in Moscow, IH specializes in private equity investing, and provides strategic planning and management consulting services. The firm originated as a foreign trade association in 1990 when the state monopoly on foreign trade ended. As foreign trade developed, several related structures were established, in particular MFK (International Financial Company) in 1992 and the Unexim Bank in 1993. By 1994 the Interros group was actively acquiring and reorganizing industrial companies. In 1998 the group was restructured and in 2000 began private equity investing. Between 2003 and 2007 the firm had established a strategic alliance with the US-based insurance group AIG-American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG), focusing on private equity investments.
