He is also on the board of Dexerials Corp., Uzabase, Inc. and PLAID, Inc. (Japan) and Professor at Waseda University.

In his past career Dr. Hirano occupied the position of Auditor at Cyfuse Biomedical KK, Operating Executive at Carlyle Japan Asset Management YK, Managing Partner at McKinsey & Co. (Japan) and Professor at the University of Tokyo.

He received a graduate degree from Stanford University and a doctorate from the University of Tokyo.
